TEHRAN -- Tehran will be playing host to an art week highlighting the southwestern province of Kohkiluyeh-Boyer Ahmad at four different locations starting on Saturday July 23.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the event will be held at the City Theater Complex, Vahdat Hall, Niavaran Cultural Center and Azadi Tower where art, culture, and natural features of the province will go on display.
A Series of programs are arranged for the week in which ritual and local performances by provincial artists will go on stage at Vahdat Hall.
Niavaran will be holding a film workshop discussing art, culture and environment of Kohkiluyeh-Boyer Ahmad.
Documentaries made by anthropologist Nader Afshar Naderi (1926-1979) are due to be reviewed at a workshop organized by filmmaker Mohammad Mokhtari.
Programs honoring top Quran reciters from the province as well as illumination artists are also arranged for the week.
In addition, artist and poets of the province are expected to gather to pay tribute to the deceased stage and screen actor Hossein Panahi who died in August 2004 at the age of 47.
Performances of street plays, traditional music, local dances, and poetry nights are among the other highlights scheduled for the week.
